Following on from a highly successful Cookstown 100 meeting, where he took third and fourth in the two Superbike races, Broughton's Gary Johnson is eagerly looking forward to a return to British Championship action this weekend.
The Uel Duncan Racing/Robinson Concrete Honda rider will compete in the second round of the Metzeler National Superstock 1000cc Championship at Oulton Park over the Bank Holiday weekend as he makes final preparations for the first International road race of the season, the North West 200.
Returning from a serious knee injury sustained in the second half of last season, Johnson has eased himself back into competition with his first outings coming over the Easter weekend.
Riding the ex-Gregorio Lavilla World Superbike-spec Honda Fireblade, the 28-year old recorded a number of runner-up spots at Kirkistown and Bishopscourt and followed this up with a strong showing at last weekend's Cookstown 100, the first round of the Irish National road race season.
It is the International meetings, however, that will be the teams' main focus for 2009 and with the North West 200 less than two weeks away, and the Isle of Man TT very much on the horizon, Johnson and the team will use the Oulton Park meeting as a final shakedown with their Superstock machine.
