CAL CRUTCHLOW has made a brilliant start to his 2010 World Superbike career

The 2009 World Supersport champion joined Sterilgarda Yamaha team with his new team mate James Toseland. At a two-day testing session at Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo circuit they have both proved that they will be a competitive partnership.
Cal Crutchlow was logging the best times of 1:35.00 on the 1st day and 1:34.1 on the second day. James Toseland, who has made a move down from MotoGP, came in behind with times of 1:34.8 and 1:34.3.
“We worked through some manual repositioning on the opening day, mostly positioning myself correctly on the bike and getting a good feel for the new riding position,” said Crutchlow. “It was totally different from Portimao so it was more difficult to find a nice riding position. The times I managed to get were not to bad considering that we were not using the best tyres available.
“Day 2 proved to be even better and the Sterilgarda team worked through a lot more of the critical bike settings. I wasn’t that please with my final times as I think I could have been fastest at the end of the day. I didn’t get a chance to use the better tyres which would have certainly been faster.
“I’m pleased enough with my overall pace and consistency. We still have plenty more to do so I’m looking forward to getting back on the bike in late January and keeping on top of the development.”
